Boys' Golf Gets By St. Albans

The boys' golf team traveled to Argyle Country Club in Silver Spring, Md for a match against St. Albans School April 1 and came home with a narrow 217-220 victory.

Six players went out for each side with the top five scores counting towards the team total. Head coach Doug Smith reports that, "The Storm came ready to play today after a disappointing first match and showed marked improvement in their overall game. Leading the way for the team was Cameron Geirasch ‘26 whose hard work and dedication to his game is starting to show dividends with a very fine 41, which was the second lowest score for either team. Right behind him was Jackson McLear ‘28 who is back from a wrist injury and was able to fire a 42 in his first time playing nine holes this spring. Matthew Gu ‘27 again showed his usual steady play and put together a nice 44. The final two counting scores were a pair of 45s by Stewart Allan ‘27 and Bruce Zhang ‘28."

Coach Smith continued, "The boys really bounced back today and I am proud we kept our scores down. Argyle is a tricky course and we managed our games well. This team is just getting started and I have a lot of hope for what we will grow into.  I’m particularly happy for Cam and we feel this is the start of him reaching his true potential."

On Thursday, April 3 the boys will travel to Warrenton, VA to take on Highland School at the Facquier Country Club. The match begins at 4 pm.
