Boys' Squash Teams Blank University School

The boys' varsity and JV squash teams both defeated visiting University School (Hunting Valley, OH) 9-0 January 24.

The top six varsity players all won their matches 3-0 with some closer scores in the 7-9 slots. Head coach Dominic Benacquista commented, "The scoreline doesn’t reflect the full story, as there were several tightly contested matches in the lower portions of the varsity ladder. William Luo ’27, Marcus Lee ’27, Finn Mauro ’27, Kyle Hwang ’26, and Collin Jin ’25 all battled hard against evenly matched opponents. Luo and Lee displayed great composure, securing wins in straight games. Mauro fought through a closely contested four-game match, staying focused and imposing his game to come out on top. Hwang and Jin also showed resilience, closing out their matches in four and five games, respectively.”

The JV squad faced off against University School again on Saturday and came away with a 7-2 win. Over the course of the two days, Gaven McGuire '26, Ethan Ma '27, Jerry Sun 27, Jerry Kwok '27, Dylan Melius '27 and Lucas Chen '27 each picked up two wins as the team improved its record to 5-2 for the season.

Now 14-1 and riding a 14-game winning streak, the varsity team travels to Blair (Blairstown, NJ) for a tri-match with Hill on Saturday, January 25 at 1 pm.
