Boys' V Lacrosse Wins Third Straight

The boys' varsity lacrosse team traveled to Shenandoah Jct. WV April 23 for a game against Jefferson County Club Lacrosse and came home with an 11-4 win, the team's third straight victory.

Mercersburg built a 5-0 lead in the first quarter and took a 8-1 lead into halftime. Head coach Tim Kerr commented, "Ground balls, unselfish play, and crisp ball movement on the offensive end were keys. Our second half play was a bit inconsistent, largely due to Jefferson's tenacity and effort. Despite their on-going pressure, we did a nice job maintaining our composure and finishing the game on a high note."

Will Donovan '25 paced the offense with three goals and three assists while Frank Bonsal '25, Reed Warner '25, and Simba Nguyen '27 each scored twice. Will Lavan '27 and Dylan Ridgway '26 completed the scoring with one goal apiece and Ridgway added two assists while Bonsal had three. Taimur Rehman '25 made ten saves in the first half while Will Choi '26 did a nice job in net during the second half to help preserve the lead.

"Ian Kopp '26 earned the player of the game" coach Kerr added, "for his overall stout defensive play and ability to pick up ground balls in tough situations. He was all over the field. He ended the game with seven ground balls, many off the face off wing, helping our face-off unit go 13-16 on the day. Every game provides key learning moments and this game was no different. Jefferson played with a ton of passion and I'm proud of our team in the way they executed, particularly in the first half.  As always, we are excited about the next opportunity to compete together."

The Storm (4-4 overall) will try to stretch their winning streak to four with a rematch at John Handley high school (Winchester, VA) on Saturday, April 26 at 1 pm. The Judges won the first matchup between the two teams 11-4 back on April 2.
