Boys' V Squash Finishes in Top 12 at Nationals

The boys' varsity squash competed at the Division 1 level at the 2025 U.S. High School Team Championships in Philadelphia February 21-23 and came home with a 12th place finish.

The Storm was seeded #14 and opened the tournament with a 6-1 loss to #3 Hotchkiss on Friday afternoon (Feb. 21). Noe Aceves '25 picked up the lone victory against Hotchkiss in front of a packed crowd on the all-glass court. Mercersburg bounced back to upset #11 Andover by a 4-3 score later that evening in the consolation round. "Dior Mitchell '26 secured his biggest victory do date [against Andover] with a hard-fought five set battle while Kamran Gwadry '27 clinched the team’s triumph with another five-set thriller," said head coach Dominic Benacquista. On Saturday evening Mercersburg fell to #10 Rye Country Day School 5-2 and then concluded the tournament with a 6-1 loss to #9 Belmont on Sunday.

“Overall, it was a successful season," added coach Benacquista. We finished with a 19-1 regular season record, won the MASO and Flanagan tournaments, and were runners-up at MAPL—though we secured a regular-season win over Lawrenceville. With a young team full of potential, we returned to Division I and matched our highest-ever national ranking. Now, our focus shifts to individual nationals.”
