Boys' Varsity Soccer Battles Hill to Scoreless Draw

Mercersburg ended its boys' varsity soccer regular season with a 0-0 tie against arch rival and Mid-Atlantic Prep League foe Hill School October 28.

Head coach Skyler Clark reports that "It was truly an amazing game. The team battled for what ultimately ended up being 100 minutes of game time. We even went down a man in the second half of overtime. There were several moments it looked like Hill was surely about to score but our defense and mainly our goal keeper Dave Nguyen '24 made remarkable efforts to keep the ball out of the net. Dave really had an outstanding game. Several people commented on his performance after it was over. We had several opportunities ourselves throughout the match, and none closer than in the final few minutes. First, Dylan Stiffler '24 took a tremendous shot from outside the box. Their goalie did a great job to deflect it and it just slowly rolled wide. We were awarded a corner kick, and from the cross that came off that corner, Max Zhang '26 put one just over the bar."

The Blue Storm ends the regular season with a record of 6-7-3 and will host Abington Friends School (Jenkintown, PA) in the first round of the PAISAA Commonwealth Cup on Friday, November 3 at 3:30 pm.
