Crystal Yuen '24 Sets Two School Swimming Records

Mercersburg's swimmers competed in an invitational meet at State College (PA) high school December 2. Team scores were not kept, but the Blue Storm won nine of the twenty races, highlighted by Crystal Yuen '24 breaking the school record in the 100 (51.15) and 200 (1:49.65) Freestyle events.

Yuen broke records that had stood since 2017 (in the 100) and 1987 (in the 200) and also set a pool record of 4:58.22 in winning the 500 Free. Ingrid Janney '24 added wins in two events (the 200 IM and 100 Back) for the girls' team while on the boys' side, Jayden Kwon '27 took first in the 200 IM and 100 Back, Thomas Cechini '25 won the 500 Free, and Sebastian Tith '27 won the 100 Breaststroke.

The swimmers will compete in the four-day Winter Classic Invitational at George Mason University beginning on Thursday, December 7.
