Early Tuneup for Track Athletes

Nine Mercersburg Track and Field athletes competed in the 20th annual Tim Cook Invitational in Chambersburg March 29.

Teresa Nyarko '28, Anne Sehon '25, Lilly Killinger '26, and Ella Blanco '26 took third in the girls' 4x800 relay, running the second-fastest time (10:02.98) in school history. The boys 4x800 relay of Chris Carbone '26, Joe Segal '26, Will Wallace '27, and Iman Zhakan '26 finished ninth while Adrian Rios '25 tossed the javelin 135' 7" to finish 11th out of 45 athletes.

"There was great competition and amazing weather for the Tim Cook Invitational," said head coach Nikki Walker. "The kids performed very well after only four days of practice this week. We are looking forward to some great improvements and successes in the season ahead.  We host McConnellsburg, Faith Christian, and Maryland School for the Deaf at 3:45 pm on Wednesday, April 2 on the Curran Track in Mercersburg."
