First Win for Girls' Golf

The girls' golf team defeated Holton-Arms School (Bethesda, MD) 179-196 in a match played at the Leisure World Golf Club in Rockville, MD April 2.

Six players competed for each squad with the lowest five scores counting towards the team total. The top three all went low for the Storm with Abby Yang '25 shooting 41, Kelsey Li '26 a rock solid 42 (a career low), and Amanda Xi '25 coming in at 43.

Head coach Doug Smith commented, "This is a bit more like the performances we hope to get this year. The top four girls are seasoned players and go about the rounds with a quiet confidence that is fun to watch. Abby was medalist for the match and if she keeps trending the way she is going we could see many more low rounds out of her. Great round by Kelsey today. She is a grinder and it is fantastic to see her put it together today. A special mention has to go out to Jessica Dang '26 who in her first stroke play match handled herself admirably with a 53 to round out the scoring."

Mercersburg is 1-1 and will host Hill on Saturday, April 5 at the Chambersburg Country Club in a match that begins at noon.
