Girls' V Lacrosse Wins Thriller in OT

Chloe Allis '25 scored the game-winner in overtime as Mercersburg defeated visiting Hun School of Princeton 13-12 in a Mid-Atlantic Prep League girls' varsity lacrosse game April 19.

The teams were tied at 8-8 entering the fourth quarter, but the Storm pulled out to a two-goal lead midway through the final period. The Raiders fought back though, and scored the equalizer with less than a minute to play. Allis got the big goal for the win early in the overtime, which was her fourth of the game in addition to having an assist. Sarah Howley '26 also scored four times for Mercersburg while Alishya Thurmond '26 led the team with five goals. Lilah Weisberg '25 had four saves in net for the Storm.

"An exciting one today" said head coach Kristin Ahlgren. "We had to play some of the third quarter and all the fourth quarter (and the OT) a player down due to having four yellow cards, so it was a work of grit! We came out and played our best lacrosse so far! Great play by Liza Hoa '27, Hadley Frey '26, Logan Pixler '26, Ellie Stine '27, and Lupe Ramos '25 on defense! Attackers Hana Vogtman '27, Jocelyn Schweitzer '28, and Ciarra Pomales '27 were tough on the re-defend causing turnovers from Hun."

Mercersburg next plays at Madeira (McLean, VA) on Tuesday, April 22 at 4:30 pm.
