Mercersburg Hosts Season Opener for Indoor Track

Twenty-one schools from the Mid-Atlantic region sent athletes to Mercersburg's Hale Field House to compete in the "Season Opener" Indoor Track and Field Meet December 8.

Team results were not available at press time, but the Storm broke two school records and produced several other strong performances. Bella Levina '25 won and broke the pole vault record jumping 9' 1" which topped the previous record of 8' 6" by a full seven inches. Additionally, Anne Sehon '25, Quinn Nelson '24, Adrienne Howard '26 and Erika Sowah '24 broke the 4x400 record in 4:18.00. Additional impressive performances came from Charlie Xu '26 who finished third in the 55m running 6.65 which is very close to the 6.60 school record from 2014. Quinn Nelson won the 3200 running 11:34. The Storm also had several top three finishes.

"It was an amazing experience to be back in the fieldhouse with so many impressive athletes," said head coach Betsy Cunningham. "I was so proud of the track team. They supported each other, competed as a team and left me feeling very fortunate to be part of this program."
