Two Mercersburg runners broke the school record in the girls' 3200M Run at the 2025 Jack Roddick High School Track & Field Invitational at Shippensburg University April 19.

Fifteen athletes from Mercersburg participated in the 98th annual event, which brings together top competitors from all over central Pennsylvania. The highlight for the Storm was when both Gabby Cechini '28 and Ella Blanco '26 bested the school record in the girls' 3200M. Sophia Divone '19 set the previous mark of 11:15.24 back in 2019, but Cechini finished in 11:05.21 (5th among the 59 runners) and Blanco crossed the line in 11:14.05 (8th overall).

"With great competition comes outstanding performances," said head coach Nikki Walker.  "Many achieved season bests and found their footing for the weeks ahead. This is a very large meet, one that gives our students perspective and goals moving forward. We are excited for the weeks ahead!"

Mercersburg will be back in action at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, April 23 in a meet hosted by the Maryland School for the Deaf (Frederick, MD).
