Mercersburg defeated St. Maria Goretti (Hagerstown, MD) 8-5 in a varsity softball game played on Spider Field April 17.

The teams were scoreless after three innings, but then the bats came alive, beginning in the top of the fourth when the Gaels took a 2-0 lead. The Storm responded immediately with three runs in the bottom of the fourth that included an RBI groundout from Alli Caretti '26 and an RBI single from Pritz Pritzker '25. Pitcher Quin Caretti '24 worked out of bases-loaded jams in both the fifth and sixth, and Mercersburg scored four more runs in the fifth and one in the sixth, so they were able to survive Goretti's three-run rally in the seventh.

Ava Guzic '25 and Kam Jenkins '26 paced the offense with two hits each while Alli Caretti lead the team with two RBI.

Mercersburg is now 4-5 with a MAPL doubleheader at Peddie (Hightstown, NJ) on Saturday, April 20 at 1 pm.
