Mercersburg sent one boys and one girls relay team to the 129th running of the Penn Relays, which took place at Franklin Field in Philadelphia from April 24-26.

On Thursday, April 24, Ryan DuPlessis '25, Arnav Rao '26, Iman Zhakan '26, and Gustavo Lisboa Ferreira Santana '26 ran in the boys' 4x400 relay and clocked a time of 3:27.82, finishing fourth in their heat. 

Head coach Nikki Walker commented, "This is the 129th running of the Relays and Mercersburg has been attending since 1897. It’s always a gift to have this opportunity! I am grateful for those who came before us and respect those who continue this great tradition." 

On Saturday, April 26, Anne Sehon '25, Teresa Nyarko '28, Adrienne Howard '26, and Ella Blanco '26 ran a 4:17.72 in the girls' high school 4x400 relay.

After the girls' race, Coach Walker added, "Women were included in the Relays in the mid 1960s and Mercersburg Girls started their run at the relays in the mid 90s. Now thousands of girls and women take part in the events over three days of competition." 

The Storm will send full squads to a boys' and girls' meet at the Hill School on Saturday, May 3 at 1 pm.
