Mercersburg defeated visting Fannett-Metal (Fannettsburg, PA) high school 3-0 in a varsity volleyball contest September 22.

The Blue Storm student body turned out in force on a "blue-out" night (in which everyone was encouraged to dress in blue) and loudly supported the home team. Jazlyn Garnett '27 got Mercersburg off to a great start by serving them to a 6-0 lead in the first set on the way to a convincing 25-13 win. The Tigers settled down in the second set, which saw several ties from 7-7 all the way to 15-15 before the Storm went on a roll to take a 25-19 victory. Set three was a far different story as Fannett-Metal built an early 10-3 lead. After Mercersburg rallied to take a 19-17 advantage, the Tigers again seized control and moved on top 24-20. The Storm fought off one set point against serve, and then Lareina Wang '26 stepped to the service line facing a 24-21 deficit and three set points. Wang served five consecutive winning points as Mercersburg pulled off the comeback to win set three 26-24 and the overall match 3-0.

With the win, the Blue Storm evens its record at 3-3 with a trip to McConnellsburg (PA) high school on tap for Wednesday, September 27 at 6 pm.
